Tonight (9th Sept.) Coldplay will play perhaps the most important gig of their lives as they take centre stage during the Paralympic Closing Ceremony. The ceremony, directed by Kim Gavin, is called a 'Festival of Flame' and will feature 2,000 performers, drawing a curtain on London 2012.
It has already been confirmed by Xylobands creator Jason Regler that the flashing wristbands will feature, however it is also now widely tipped that Rihanna and Jay-Z take part. Chris Martin fuelled the speculation after confirming that Coldplay would be performing alongside 'friends' when speaking to Greg James on BBC Radio 1. In addition, the American stars have been sighted in the Olympic Park today.
On Friday the Daily Mail released the following pictures of Coldplay rehearsing for the show. The show Chris and Guy climbing to the top of a large flight of stairs, and also show a large Fish and Grasshopper as props which will be used during the ceremony.
How long Coldplay will feature for remains unknown, however encouraging news comes from Anchorman, who tweeted that the ceremony will include a Coldplay 'set'.
The start time for the show on the ticket indicates a 7.30pm start, however it is likely to begin closer to 8.30pm. The 'Festival of Flame' will be broadcasted in full by Channel 4 in the UK, and it will be live streamed online globally at www.paralympic.org.
